The infas Telecommunications Monitor deals with several aspects concerning equipment and use of landline, mobile telecommunications, internet, and entertainment media. Their parallel juxtaposition in one single study allows for manifold analyses, which would not be possible without this combination.
The infas Telecommunications Monitor is a representative nationwide survey carried out jointly by infas and infas geodaten analysing amongst others the following topics:
- market shares by providers and products,
- type and frequency of use of landline and mobile telecommunications
- mobile equipment of entire households,
- propensity to switch,
- satisfaction with providers,
- opinions about communications subjects,
- estimations of new market trends,
- regional differences (Federal State, urban area / rural area).
The infas Telecommunications Monitor is a continuous project and started with a pilot study in 2010 with 1,500 cases. The interviews are being conducted by means of a dual-frame sampling design (simultaneous survey with landline and mobile phone numbers). infas is responsible for drafting the questionnaire and conducting the interviews. infas geodaten transfers the results onto areas.
The infas Telecommunications Monitor thus depicts regionalised market shares of landline providers or brands of mobile phones for example.
The infas Telecommunications Monitor was carried out again in summer 2011 with about 17,000 cases in dual frame design. The results are already released.
