Traffic and mobility

Everyday life is shaped by activities at different locations. We commute to work, go to the mall on greenfield site, afterwards to the cinema or we meet friends in the neighbourhood. We go on vacation trips or are away on business. In order to participate in societal life we move between places – 90 minutes on average per day.

infas mobility research measures everyday traffic and analyses market structures, interviews traffic participants as customers of different means as well as offers of transport. It identifies potentials for new developments, trends and changing mobility.

Focus on railway stations: an iterative method visually supported by a wall map is the only way to represent the rail network by means of selection via recruitment at the station.
infas researched vandalism in public transport in the past as well for example with conducting focus groups with imprisoned delinquents, sprayers in disguise and sentenced football hooligans on probation.
This flyer was posted nationwide in 2008 in order to persuade at least 50,000 households to participate in the survey "Mobility in Germany".

infas can provide several proven instruments in the area of transport research:

  • market potential measurement
  • marketing studies
  • The infas customer monitor for public transport (infas KM). A flexible measuring system for customer relations, which has also proven itself effective for topics concerning mobility.
  • infas carries out specific trend analyses in order to identify the future concerns of a sector.
  • The expertise of infas in mobility and transport research can also be used independent of surveys. For this purpose infas offers separate consulting services.
  • The pilot study "Mobility in Germany" (Mobilität in Deutschland - MiD) on behalf of the Federal Government is essential base data of Germen transport research.
  • With "Mobility in Regions" (MiR) we even offer regional surveys with MiD-design. The instrument provides mobility data for market researchers, transport planners and marketing experts for their respective area of transport.

Market research data allowing for micro-geographic allocation is valuable for transport companies in particular. That is exactly what regional market research at infas does. With an extensive database as control system we can analyse potentials not only in detail, but also locate them - accurate to the stop/station. This allows for small scale samples, pinpoint results and measures.
