National Educational Panel Study (NEPS): Educational Trajectories in Germany

The NEPS study "Educational Trajectories in Germany" is carried out by the Leibniz Institute for Educational Trajectories and examines educational processes and trajectories over the entire life span.

It was launched and established by Prof. Dr. Dr. hc. Hans-Peter Blossfeld at the University of Bamberg in 2009. Educationist Prof. Dr. Hans-Günther Roßbach took over NEPS management in August 2012 until his retirement in March 2017. In February 2019 Prof. Dr. Cordula Artelt succeeded the two Interim Directors Prof. Dr. Sandra Buchholz and Prof. Dr. Sabine.

NEPS aims at promoting not only basic research through the provision of a comprehensive, across the entire life span and various educational institutions, but also at supplying key contributions to a knowledge-based education policy. The NEPS study's methodological approach can be described as sequential multi-cohort design with approximately 60,000 individuals. infas is one of the two institutions responsible for carrying out this survey.
