Empirical educational research by tradition is a broad and long-developed field of work of the infas Institute. Complex research designs, especially longitudinal studies, play a prominent role in this field.
The research spectrum ranges from preschool and school education through vocational education and higher education to (lifelong) continuing education, even in old age. The method of biographical education research, which is currently being methodically bundled in the National Education Panel Study (NEPS), was the expression of a comprehensive change of concept a long time ago. With many years of experience in life-course research, the infas Institute has carried out surveys of the National Education Panel Study since the beginning of the project.
