Integration research

infas accompanies the migration and integration processes on behalf of federal authorities and research institutions with various studies that meet the special linguistic and methodological requirements.

Since the first recruitment of workers in the sixties, people from abroad have been continuously moving to Germany. While the children and grandchildren of the first generation of migrants from society have become indispensable, the integration of migrants and refugees into the world of work and into society is a continuous task for migration, labour market, education and social policies. Recent refugee movements pose particular challenges to social science research.

In this topic we regularly perform:

  • empirical studies on vocational language courses for migrants,
  • investigations on the economic and social situation of refugees as beneficiaries of support and integration services according to SGB II,
  • impact analyses on occupational integration measures among young people from the Middle East,
  • longitudinal observation of the education and integration processes of refugees.

The increasing proportion of people with a migrant background also require special consideration in the infas surveys. A lot of studies claim to interview people who do not have sufficient German language skills in their native language or in an international language that they understand and master. infas conducts surveys in languages including Arabic, English, French, Polish, Russian, Serbo-Croatian, and Turkish. Special CATI surveys are also available in Greek, Portuguese, Italian, Dutch, Luxembourgish, Czech, Hungarian, Farsi/Persian, Kurdish, Tigrinya, Urdu, or Japanese.
